Truckfest Rules!
Two days of bright sunshine and more than 1000 gleaming trucks - the perfect combination for the first Truckfest event of the year. Held at Peterborough's East of England showground, the event gives truckers and non-truckers alike the chance to see some of the smartest trucks from the UK and beyond as Italian, German, Dutch and French trucks all join in the annual bank holiday pilgrimage.
While the sun brought an extra shine to polished paintwork and stainless steel, the Working Time Directive was the subject on every driver's lips. Some welcomed the new regulations, others complained that it was making their already complicated lives even more difficult. Thankfully there was no lack of sound advice available, so many came away from the show having learned more about the business as well as having enjoyed the spectacle and camaraderie of the event.
Our only complaint, shared by many showgoers, was a clear need for more wastebins around the ground, some vehicles becoming partially obscured by cans and wrappers towards the end of the weekend. As for the trucks and the atmosphere, they were as enjoyable as ever.
